am I right in thinking you've gone from dual-circuit to single-circuit brake system?

If I understand what you mean it's still a dual circuit system. One port from the master cylinder feeds the front brakes via a t-piece and the other port feeds the rear by a t-piece. I run a larger MC than the standard GTi6 one as well.
