I think a lot of your frustation with the car stems from the fact you don't have any money to spend on it at the moment, so something that would be on your to-do list is instead allocated to the pissing-me-off list. 
Tbf to the car, if you had the money lying about most if not all of the problems would already be fixed.
That said, by the sounds of it you would do well to do some proper research into insurance before making a decision.
