well today, while the weather was good, and after I had a look at the 306, to see what is going on there.
I decided to get on with sorting out the brakes once and for all!
I bought my replacement flexi hoses, to bin the braided hose shite.

took the shitty ones off and went back to OEM

gave the brakes a bleed, and I now have a road working metro again!!

going back to the braided hoses,

I think I know why one went, as the one other one was going to do the same!
we came to the conclusion that these are piss poor quality, as the length is questionable compared to the OEM hose.
Anyway I have my little egg beater back up and running, just need to sort the fuel gauge out.
