Sounds all too familiar mate lol, i only had to do it in front of 7/8 people, but they're all mechanics so like to come over and make "helpful" suggestions.
Tbf if this is the whole problem then i think you've done pretty well, even just the fpr is more expensive than the lift pump, let alone the rest of it.
