Rimmerbros are too expensive, £225 for the gasket, bolts and oil rail without any of the other gaskets. 
Gasketsforclassics seems to have a good rep with the rover community and it's £120 for everything.
How is the 1.8t engine? Where are you located?
As you say it does seem simple enough so I'm willing to try just going to need some assistance with it
