In lamens terms, Garrett started with "T" turbos, then "GTs", then "GT....VNT"...now the latest gen is "GTB....vlkr"
I was going compound, but Im going to save for a GTB now as they are just silly good at what they do!
You'll have to excuse me i'm not all up to date with turbocharger codes and series mate!
They seems alright, just a lot of them come with the control for the Variable vane as part of the turbo body itself.
no its ok, its a bit more complex than that but thats a general idea.
You are right though, most of the GTBs have a circuit board/actuator box on them...although could be controlled otherwise
and its very hard to find even little GTBs at less than £200...
I hunt everyother day for a sub £200 GTB2260 and not yet found one even close...most want £300-400!
With a little bit of easy modification you could get that running off vacuum. Although i bet there's a bit more to running a VNT than just a vacuum/pressure.
We rang midland turbo, and a rebuild for the bigger GT23 was just shy of £400, that's new bearings, seals, internals etc.
