Less harmonic damping of the crank.
Miles, interesting. I've found two things by lightening the crank damping too much by use of very light pulleys and light flywheels.
1) snapped oil pump chains by vibration / surging
2) poor rpm pickup on the flywheel due to "jitter" on the crank revolution. I.e. Odd crank acceleration / deceleration characteristics.
