I think I'll keep the Forester.

So I'm still undecided but feel better as I have more info. to consider and make my decision on.
I like mending cars but the lack of time is a big issue for me. 2 kids and a job and a wife and a few other hobbies which I don't have time for gets in the way! The daily hack needs to be reliable and the mpg on forecourt derv will still give me a big saving versus the Subaru. Doesn't sound like there's that much in it as far as I'm concerned. Does the HDI have more noticeable torque as some of the climbs are steep and the petrol Forester is too heavy and weary at hill climbs. Current score - HDI 7/10 & XUD 6/10 based on the above help. I assume the HDI is a safer option too with it being a later model?
