just needs a 12v live to it when the car is cold, I think you can connect it via the glowplug relay (NOT the glowplug rail though as that is going to be very high ampage and will probably destroy the solenoid ) or alternatively there must be another 12v live when the cars cold, termostat housing maybe somewhere?
Just to test it though, put a bit of wire from the stop solenoid to the advance solenoid and wait til the cars stone cold again, then start it up and see if makes a difference, if it does then you can look into wiring it up permanently.
