It has to be as under the turbo as you can get it. Wish i took pics of mine i used the furthest actuator bolt hole then cut one of the holes off the actuator then bent the rod like an S so it still pull the wastegate shut. I also put a little preload on there to save having to ever touch it again. I can take some pics if you want but you'll have to wait for me to get over the pit with my proper camera and see what i can do 
I think i used a k14 mani then, i have a k14 here in a box which i removed gently (read hammer) from the manifold!
