What poodle is talking about is the Sata drivers for the hdd, Xp doesn't support AHCI native and has to run in Ide form by default whereas Vista/7 does. So it could be that you're computer is running Ahci and you're trying to boot xp which wants ide
You can make xp run in ahci, if the drivers are there from the computer manufacturer iirc
