Computer experts help - HDIkyle - 26-02-2013 Got a Fujitsu Siemans Amilo Pi 2512 laptop that was sent off for the charger port repaired and since we have had it back it will not boot. Was originally on Vista so have try'd to put XP Home edition on but it comes up with a NTLDRL missing. So have try'd a windows 7 disc which i have on my own laptop and PC fine but that also comes up with an error message during the installation. Anyone got any idea of whats the problem and how to solve it? Thanks RE: Computer experts help - Dum-Dum - 26-02-2013 I think you have your boot drive set wrong you need to go into the BIOS when it gives you the option (usually the delete button) and set it to boot from the CD drive. RE: Computer experts help - HDIkyle - 26-02-2013 Yep do that it gets an error when it gets to the install RE: Computer experts help - Poodle - 26-02-2013 What you do is call the company you sent it to for repairs and tell them to sort their shit out. RE: Computer experts help - HDIkyle - 26-02-2013 It was sent there ages ago some time last year but only just got round to sorting it. RE: Computer experts help - Poodle - 26-02-2013 Ah, bugger haha. What's the hdd type? May not be compatible with windows 7, I had the opposite problem when i tried to install XP on mine. To make it work i have to go into bios and change the drive type, you never know it might work lol. RE: Computer experts help - HDIkyle - 27-02-2013 I'm not sure tbh it does say something about a drive not been detected I have removed and refitted it also but same messages. RE: Computer experts help - lolsteve - 27-02-2013 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WyT4AmjvMeI to attempt to fix ntldrl if it's damaged install Or What poodle is talking about is the Sata drivers for the hdd, Xp doesn't support AHCI native and has to run in Ide form by default whereas Vista/7 does. So it could be that you're computer is running Ahci and you're trying to boot xp which wants ide You can make xp run in ahci, if the drivers are there from the computer manufacturer iirc http://superuser.com/questions/333052/changing-sata-mode-to-ide-mode-to-solve-ntldr-is-missing-error-after-installing RE: Computer experts help - cully - 27-02-2013 (26-02-2013, 11:13 PM)Poodle Wrote: Ah, bugger haha. i had the same thing when i tryed to duel boot a vista laptop with XP when i want xp i have to go into bios and change (system config/SATA operation) from AHCI to ATA |
