Mmh, not sure it will be as effective as petrol. I once read an in depth study on this and the conclusion was that the Polyethylene terephthalate particle mixtures that are produced during compression of the diesel mixed with some petrol help improve the cylinder scavenging, and thus back pressure. This effectively reduces the resistance the pistons experience. Allowing for a more 'revy' engine. It is only applicable to IDI Diesel engines though, as DI does not benefit from the same swirl dynamics as IDI.
