You need to use primer as primer, you can't use paint if your going to do that you might as well just spray your final colour onto the bare surface............
If i was to use autopaint, what would be a good silver colour to order for alloys? Will the standard peugeot EYCC (called quartz or something like that) do it you think?
And have you used their aerosol gun thing? Looks like it might be handy, but if it's just tat i won't bother.
Make sure you use Etch primer Poodle.....it's not cheap but it the best stuff to use for priming them mate. 500ml cans at Halfords are £12.95, I used just under two cans on my cyclones.

Sorry, totally missed this, just find any silver you like and get the paint code for it, the aerosol trigger thing is alright TBH, stops the finger ache you get holding the nozzle down I have one at home if you want it posting to you?
Cheers Kent....another couple of coats of lacquer then get them flattened and the G3 on them next weekend. I'm really please with them considering this is the first set I've ever refurbished before.
Well I started using my aunties garage she has lecky in there but it's too much of a faf taking wheels down and everything. Think next lot of spraying is going to be there though just for the piece n quiet lol .
I have a little kettle down in mine, walking from the house to the garage would mean I'd have half a mug full by the time I got there lol.....it's the extension lead that pisses me off. May have to do something about it at some point.
Thanks mate, it's taken a LOT of hard work to get them like this and in all honesty if I had to another set I'd probably get them powder-coated lol
I spent ages rubbing them down then used an aluminium based filler to loose the kerb and scuff marks. They then had 3 coats of Etch primer, then some flattening down then quite a few coats of satin black (forgotten just how many lol). So far they've now had 8 coats of lacquer which I'm happy with (the photo was taken at 5 coats).
I've just got to flatten them again now with some ultra fine wet and dry the polish them back up with G3.
All done with rattle cans as well......I don't do this professionally so to speak, I fit wooden floors and restore old floors for a living lol
Thanks mate, looking forward to having them on the car for FCS......just not looking forward to the rollocking off the wife I'll no doubt get for 'spending more bloody money' on the car lol
I'll take some later as I gotta move my last one out of the downstairs toilet anyway. It's what I've been using to harden them up as there's a massive radiator in a small room. . Mine sent any where near as good as yours but they're my first big spray job. Did a centre console other month.
They just need flating back.
Down worry Gareth its all about refurbing wheels do its on topic . Hopefully I get the money for Disc and pads so I can get the 283 setup on and painted will look sweet then.
I can't wait. Like I say they really ain't perfect one needs redoing before fcs.
Just thinking of what to do with the set I'm picking up. Never seen these wheels before and now I have 2 sets. My dad said I should spray them moonstone wheel anthracite lion and swap them over half the way through the day at fcs confuse people.
