So...
Seems that whatever has been occasionally clunking in the past has not gone...and track time really made it angry.
On journey home, at 1200rpm and around 1800rpm, in any gear under light load its a horrid clunking sound. Nearside for sure. Very agricutural.
Seems to continue and appear at other random times too...but above 2250rpm and moving...lots of noise anyway from everything.
Doesnt make noise when coasting down in gear off the power
Try n get video up soon.
I'm thinking gearbox tbh...esp as it got worse during track time.

Seem to have had this knock for ages, surely the gearbox is the only thing that hasn't been changed by now?

Give the drive shafts a good wobble and see if you can feel the diff moving around or listen for noise?
What box you running?

car park full lock and slight acceleration like checking for cv joint noise, diff working then, so if bad tooth etc, will make the noise??

Not commiting any more time/money to this now...
Two new projects I need to move on to.
Upsets me a bit, esp as it has been so successful this weekend/recently...
But times move on.
Did sound/feel epic yesterday though

306 dturbo /hdi diffs are interchangeable.
I'll bring it when I return the head, which is all ready to go. Big thanks for that, diff is free by the way

you sure nothing is caught up with a tyre? sounds bad whatever it is, does it make the noise from rest or does the noise start at a particular speed, sounds very rhythmic.
does the noise vary when weaving?
hole in down pipe, it is a diesel
watched the vid several times now, noise seems to start when clutch fully up, why are you holding it in gear?? and the car seems to jerk??? clutch problem??? as noise speed seems to increase at one point like a kid running past railings with a stick????
there also seems to be some steering wheel wobble, i would't drive the car again on the road until sorted

No steering wobble. Drives fine.
Drove it like that on track
Why am I holding it in gear??....coz in neutral i slow down!??
No weave/road bump effects. No play anywhere. No wheel issues.
Yes it does jerk a little if you hold it at that rpm...could be a fuel issue unrelated
And downpipe hole..not because diesel... And its huge.

Does it pop out of gear when you take your hand off the gearstick then? Very much a diff/box issue if so. Just watched it again, that is awful. :/

No, I'm just being lazy with my hand.
No gearchange issues at all, no grinding, popping out etc
