Best of luck with the re build bud, you've got a really nice car there, and I'm sure you'll enjoy it when it's finished.

You'll get there though! You seem like you want everything spot on, there's not a lot of your cars left around, you've got a very rare car there, that will stand out from the rest when you get it finished.

The BMW I bought was the same, maintained (if you could call it that) by a complete muppet.
They had bent and stripped the threads on the sump plug
They had just gasket sealed the cracked thermostat housing
They had prised off the led airbag light from the instrument cluster (to keep the light out)
No antifreeze in the water....Antifreeze in the cooling system is how I found the cracked thermo housing
They had destroyed the brake disc retaining screws so they didn't actually retain the dis

All of the problems bar the antifreeze is something you just cant check on a test drive. But I am eventually sorting the problems and getting the car how I want it.
Keep perservering ezb, itl be worth it in the long run.

Bank holiday Monday...took the head off again...take two..no obvious damage to the head, can only assume its something the company who rebuilt it have done, wasn't tapping before hand

reply from the people who are doing the head work today, Valve guides on Cylinder 3 were the issue, sorting them out free of charge...bit of good news(ish) for the first time

K&N filter and scorpion exhaust on, after a decent decat if anyone passing has or knows or one

Head has arrived back, replaced two valves and guides on cylinder 3, hopefuly this time around all will be OK!

So you decided to improve the 'shitty' red by painting them yellow?  Confused

Looked wayyyy better red imo

Edit: just read through the thread, man you've had some crappy luck with this car. Good on you for getting it all sorted  ThumbsUp

So all running fine..touch wood!! for awhile, had issues with the spoox top rad hose/thermostat adapter weeping, but all seems good now.

went to a local charity rolling road day to see how many ponies it had left.

made 175bhp..well just shy of

Its just had a rebuilt head, bit of polish and porting, decat, full system, k-n panel filter..and always ran on octane..if that actually makes any difference

Wasn't a fan of the standard ride height, always looked a little high on the front? especially on 16s

So bought some adjustable KW coilovers, down about 40mm

Very good result then considering the work.

Looks so tidy this car. Great to see as the phase 1s are defiantly a dying breed

Looking pretty mint now, sigma has to be 1 of the best 306 colours! This is certainly 1 of my favorite cars on here. Good work mate.

Cheers, still can't decide what to actually do with it! Was supposed to be a run around until my D-turbos sorted, but its such a good car, had a full rebuild I'm half tempted to sell that off and purchase some trumpets, a charger or some lumpy sticks

I assumed this was an upgrade from your dt and that the dt was destined for sale/scrap. Good to hear its not scrap, I liked that car. I can see the dilemma though you have a very nice 6 here!
