Yeah Nile isn't a phase 1 colour, not saying don't do it, but yeah three blues close to that in phase 1 are: Genesis blue, Sigma blue and Miami blue the lighter of the bunch

Basically, the holes in the tailgate for the boot button aren't the same. A ph.2 boot button/badge won't fit a mk1 tailgate, but a mk1 button will fit a mk.2 tailgate and leave a hole visible above it. You might be able to rectify a lack of a 2nd hole on a mk.1 tailgate by drilling another.

A phase 1 tailgate has one hole for the boot button to fit into and a phase 2 tailgate has two.

Interesting, thanks for explaining! As I say, I don't think I'm too bothered with the boot badge/tailgate. However, I'll keep my eye out for an entire ph1 tailgate as it'll probably be easier/similar price. I guess the latch itself lines up and that's all the same, is it?

No high level brake light on the phase1 tailgate and yes latch will line up but if you do buy a phase1 make sure it has the boot spoiler fitted already as they can be a nightmare to remove and fit on a non spoiler tailgate!

I think its Miami, you're right. To be honest though, if I'm going full car spray at all, I gotta go black! Black is my favourite colour for cars, and secondly I'll get the paint basically for free as it'll be the same paint used on my drift car which needs some stuff sprayed too

Bit of a busy/random day today! 

I bought this, this morning!


For a grand total of £93. I bought it mostly for the Cyclones, which come with good/average tyres. The car was just a few miles from my parents house too, bonus.

I own 2 306's! What is happening!?


Gave the poor thing a wash, and took its wheels


Fitted & went for a quick drive. Minutes after this photo it hammered down with rain!


Later in the evening, took the Mrs' out for dinner. Looking so much better!


Happy with that! PS, if anyone wants anything from the black 306, let me know. Going to scrapyard in the next few weeks!

Strange blank on nearside cluster preventing a rear fog light. I chopped this out & put a bulb in, and now I have twin rear fog lamps on Ph1 lights. Very odd? Very easy to do, lol

I soldered & wired them up myself, chopping the original plug & loom. Didn't take very long, maybe 2 hours total. I had no wiring diagrams to go from either, just guessing until I got everything correct

Not bothering with tailgate (at least for now), but I do have the older-style "306" badge to fit too, which will 90% complete the Ph1 conversion.

Some other bits done on the car as well over the last few days, more updates & photos soon!

Had some free time today and thought I'd remove wiper motor & clean the area below it in order to stop future leaks. Mine wasn't leaking & wasn't blocked, but I thought I might as well do it now as I had some free time.

So I've read, leaves gather below the wiper motor, proceed to block the drain hole, then you get horrible water in drivers footwell. Its a yearly, or maybe once every couple year job to do, and doesn't take very long.

I've actually also just written all this up & photos into its own guide, so people can find it easier in the future

Remove wipers (remove cap then 13mm nuts). Then remove driver & passenger plastic scuttle trims


Need to remove this triangular brace thing. x3 13mm bolts


Looks like this. Now go ahead and remove the x4 10mm bolts around wiper motor, and the final 10mm bolt holding the passenger side wiper stub/spline on


Disconnect wiper plug, remove entire thing, and it looks something like this. Horrible!


Pick out leaves & stuff. Put some lock on steering, and you can chuck water/brake cleaner in the area to flush everything out. The hole at the bottom comes out on top of the wheel arch liner, with some lock on, you can poke your figure through to clear it all out


Re-fit everything in order. I cleaned up the brace too, and copper-greased all bolts


Job done Check wipers work once its all back together & plugged in

Not many updates to tell at the moment, I went to Las Vegas with work last week (which was incredible!), so things have been pretty busy!

However, I am gathering parts & information ready for a clutch change & HDI gearbox swap. I've just ordered the following direct from Peugeot

- Clutch fork bearing 2175 21
- Clutch fork bearing 2175 20
- Gearbox driveshaft oil seal 3121 44
- Gearbox driveshaft oil seal 3121 46
- Clutch cable 2150 S3
- Gearshift control return socket/bush 2175 57
- Oil 75w80 2ltr 9736 41

(Part numbers alongside each item) Total came to £121.73. The biggest expense there is the clutch cable, but I'd rather do it once & do it properly with genuine Peugeot parts on these items.

Next on the "to buy" list is the clutch kit, a Miles Group N gear linkage (rose jointed), and the HDI gearbox itself!

Looking forward to having slicker gear changes & slightly improved fuel economy on the motorway too, with thanks to those longer ratios in the HDI 'box

Got myself a new camera, so any reason to take photos! New headlights turned up, with thanks to Alex (Redordead89), which are black masked. Also bought myself new indicators as my old ones were misted up & cracked pretty badly.

I've yet to try them at night, but hopefully they are better than my old ones. I basically couldn't see where I was going at night previously, even with the Osram bulbs!

This is perhaps a ridiculous amount of work & photos that I’m about to post, but this is what me & a mate of mine have been doing for almost 2 days straight!  Earlier in the week I bought myself a pair of Recaro reclining seats in the idea to put them in the Peugeot.



I wanted to keep them on a slider, so a custom seat rail was in order. James, a mate of mine, who is a welder & fabricator, also has a 306, so it was easier just to use his car in his garage (ignore the disgusting wheels, eww!)



We got started mostly on the centre-console side of the drivers rail. There’s a huge mechanism attached to the seat rail which we believe remembers the position of the rail when you tilt/slide the seat forward to get people in the back. We don’t need that, and I want to sit lower, so that was removed



Next up was the “remembering position” runner, which had a separate rail. This wasn’t needed either



The console-side rail was now looking a lot slimmer, getting there



Next, James made a pair of horizontal support bars to brace each rail using some 20x20x2mm box section, leaving 1 end off in order to slide this over the console-side runner



After playing with the seat position, we soon found the spring lever & mech to actually make the rail slide was in the way. After much discussion, we decided to cut it off



But then re-locate the spring hole, re-bend the spring, to ensure the lever & spring was flush with the top of the rail



Next issue was the lever under the seat to operate the sliding was going to foul on the support bars. Some notching was required



Done!



James then set to work with his TIG setup and tac-welded the seat base together using the Recaro seat as a frame



Then onto the bench for final welding



Done!



Fitted back to the seat, perfect



This is how the seat base fits over the Peugeot rails, snug



To mount to the offside runner, things were a little more tricky. The offside runner sits a lot lower & vertical to the car body, so some more bar, angled very accurately, was needed to step-down to meet it

Then, working in the car itself, tac-welding the seat base to the rails themselves



Once done, removed from car and back to the bench for final welding

Thanks! They are around on eBay with some searching. Originally I was going to go with a pair of Bride Brix seats, which is the seats I used to run in my Nissan. But somehow Bride seats in a French car just seems wrong. And secondly, they are at least double the price of these Recaro's, if not more!

Slowly but surely gathering parts for my HDI gearbox upgrade, and generally a full service on the car



New clutch, clutch cable, clutch fork bushes, driveshaft oil seals, front clutch oil seal / bearing guide, "Miles" uprated gear linkage kit, genuine Peugeot gearbox oil

...Uuuuuuu breath...

Gulf 10w40 engine oil, oil filters, fuel filter & some Redex fuel additive just because!

And of course, the final most importance piece of the puzzle..



Bought from the very helpful "Bashbarnard" (Thanks again dude!!). It came to me like this, with no clutch fork as Bash already had it half-converted for XUD fitment, but had to keep the XUD fork, etc. But, just to double check, I found the identification stamp and sure enough - 20TD95 - which is indeed a 306 HDI gearbox



I'll just need to use my existing XUD fork and sensors etc, and she should be good! I'll probably give the 'box a good clean in daylight too, then to fit all this junk!

No updates in a while because I've been pretty busy (going to Japan & other things!)

Anyway, got the passenger Recaro seat in & rail fabricated. I opted to go for a non-sliding rail on the passenger side, simply because of ease & time. There's no real reason to have a sliding passenger rail for me, I very rarely take more than 1 passenger out, and as long as the passenger seat is slightly further back than where I have mine, then that's all good. So..

And that's it so far! I've STILL yet to take photos of the seats actually in the car, but they do look amazing. And sooooo much better than factory seats in terms of position, comfort & supportiveness. I sit maybe 4-5 inches lower in these seats, and it feels much more like a sports car than it did before, I much prefer it!

Anyway, I'll get pics soon of entire interior

In other news, I'm looking forward to Saturday - HDI gearbox & new clutch time. I'll take plenty of photos as always

Finally got photos of the car in daylight with both seats fitted, couldn't be happier with them, amazing







You can see the remainders of the factory slider/mech in this shot. At some point I'll probably remove the seats & rails and spray the rails, then perhaps get some plastic to cover this up, to make it look even more OEM-style


And, incase I haven't taken a photo of it before, this is the steering wheel I'm using too. Momo flat dash that I've had knocking around for a while, really nice!
