I don't think mine is running all that well either, as the MPI fan system keeps coming on, so think the sensor is on the blink. As my Spi fan system comes on 1st.

Well it's alive
Left it alone for about half a week so before doing anything I turned it over to check that no coolant had leaked into the cylinders so i wouldn't bend a valve. Being smart n that, no problems there Put it all back together bar the alternator/pas belts incase it had to come back. Cranked over a few times without coilpacks on to get oil flowing as it had been sat. No oil/coolant leaks. Started up and it ran. Interior fans blowing hot so hopefully no air in system. bit of smoke from exhaust manifold but could have been burning something off. giving it a rest now as its been a long day after travelling up from Southampton https://www.youtube.com/embed/RTiqC0v4svI

Besides I like the K series, it's easy enough for me to work on despite my lack of mechanical skill Dont know much about the l series but i think they have MAF issues so perhaps if he gets it mapped out or replaced it'll be a more even battle

Being the passenger while it was driven by someone else showed me that it's alot more capable than I thought it to be and taught me a bit more on how to possibly drive it more effectively For example at castle combe I'm spending most of my time in 2nd gear especially on corners as I would over brake and think i needed to be hitting the high notes for the power band which often left me bouncing the limiter in a very vtec fashion Now I've been reading up about left foot braking/trail braking and tried out holding out in 3rd gear on a nice country road whilst carrying the speed more. Luckily for me this weekend is a small track day so can practise some stuff / try and get out of the second gear hogging habit Since I've also fallen for it I'm going to work on getting it more presentable. First a couple of shiny bits such as red 8mm ignition leads and a rear tow hoop thing (so jdm) next up is getting the body work fixed i.e no scratch or rust . Still need to fit the new janspeed manifold and sports cat which might release a couple more ponies 16/09/15: Just been looking into the camshaft/mapping stuff during my lunch break and thought i'd upload some details with some maths (vvc start with full duration is taken from someones measuring as couldnt find a official figure) Stock exhaust camshaft duration = 51+21+180 = 252 Piper camshaft duration = 62+22+180 = 264 Exhaust cam duration increase = 12 degrees
