Standard Brakes Question
#1
Evening chaps.

My front brakes need doing for the MOT, they're Lucas 266mm calipers. I don't need anything track spec, it's just a supermarket/motorway run car, what's a good balance of cost and performance? Low dust if there's nothing else to choose between them. Need discs as well.

Cheers!

Yep another vote for Pagid.

Only other thing I'd touch now is oem bosch pads, had a set for mine in 266 size and preferred them to M1144s and Ds2500s, no warmup time, cracking feel from the word go and didn't go off suddenly!!

The more racy pads ended up scaring you if you'd been on the motorway or aren't driving using the brakes hard, you'd hit them cold and you'd wonder if the servo assistance had disappeared...

Ebay is where i bought mine, but my local motor factors do them now. Pagid are good, i just like to avoid using euros if at all possible.

They are made by the same company - but in the same way as the Audi R8 and Skoda CitiGo are all made by VAG... It doesn't mean they're all the same! Wink

Eicher are made by TMD as well, but they are the value cheap shite, I've warped a couple of Eicher discs giving them the same treatment as Pagids.

warping discs is very unlikely, 99% of the time its pad deposits or corrosion

Hmm, not in my experience, I was anal enough to check them with a DTI gauge as I couldn't believe they've fail so quick. lol

I agree judder isn't always a warped disc but I'd say its more than 1%.

Anyone want to tell me which of the 17 different bloody pads are the right ones?

These ones are definitely wrong, as I bought them last time I had the brakes done and they've sat on a shelf since. They're Lucas 266mm HDi calipers.
