HDi handbrake cables
#1
Well lads, the HDIs hand brake has bit the dust, one of the cables has snapped, well its been on the car since it was made,  my dad replaced the other side, but I want to replace the two.
where is the best place to get these?, also which ones are the best ones, as my dad is telling me to stay clear from euro part. also how easy are these to fit?
the car is only holding on one side sadly,

I am keeping them in mind like, just waiting for a pal to ring me back, as he is in the trade. just to see if he can get a bit of trade discount.

Pagid ones are fine, as are first line ime. Piece of cake to fit, worst bit will be getting the old ones out of the caliper.

I did both in a short afternoon. As above, hardest bit is getting them out the caliper but as they're going, a decent punch and hammer will see to it. Clean up the hole and grease it.

What's best way to get them out the caliper? I'm fitting mine tonight when I finish work at about 10pm, will be back at work at 6am so don't want to be out to long messing about.

As c2k says, punch and a hammer. Maybe best off doing them another time if you've only got 8 hours between shifts, as i presume you'd also like to eat, shower and sleep in that time as well lol.

The bit that took the longest was dropping the exhaust and heat shields in my opinion! Watch out you don't round off the little plastic screws that holds the shield up

I got home last night from work around 10pm after 16 hour shift and only took a few hours.
Cut the cable at the caliper, hit them out of the caliper (I used heat on one of them), dropped the heat shield at the back and just moved it towards front of the car.
The rest you can easily guess.

If I can do them anyone can. :-)
