She has got more power day to day, put when summer comes round she has alot less power and VVT,
Never seen the point of xsi's when there are gti6s about, but ever since having this one i love em, Its a brilliant little car to drive

Nop its a ph2 2.0 16v 134 bhp xsi sooooooo much pokier than the 8v
Think all ph3 xsi's were 16v and VERY few ph2/1s were 16v mostly 8v

The XSI is actually very good to drive, at the end of the day it's 134 bhp in 1100kg, the old Escort RS Turbo wasn't much better power-to-weight wise...

I dont mean power wise as it is pretty dull due to the lack of VVT but the handling is very balanced for a std car with just -40 springs. Its just really fun to chuck about.

That looks good? How are these a lot lighter then the gti? Surely it's the same engine isn't it?

What's all the talk of VVT? No 306s have VVT, only engines that do are the 206 GTi180 and the 140hp one put in the 406 Coupe...
Bottom end of the engine is essentially the same, differences being the better cylinder head design on the RS, better cams and the 6 speed box... And then the on car stuff, 266s vs 283s, bodywork etc... The biggest advantage of the XSis is that they're MUCH less finnicky with their cambelts... Do a few choice mods and you'll see 145-150, which if you shove on a GTi6 box, you're 17hp off a GTi6... For much less money...

I'm guessing gti inlet, gti exhaust manifold, induction kit, new exhaust.
Put in a set of fast road cams and a remap then you should be above a gti!
Could you not put a gti head on he xsi block?

I've driven a couple of 16v XSIs and they feel quick enough to be fair, and when you consider good ones can be had for 500 quid unlike a '6...

yep. i cant say i've ever seen or hear of a proper phase 2 having a 8v xsi engine.
My XSI i had was a early reg as well.
If someone has put a 8v in as a replacement for a 16v then laugh at him forever
