So another good, productive day today, with great weather

Wrap and reverse cable turned up in the post, got the manifold wrapped. Its enough to test the patience of the best of us....



Also put a lick of paint on the wiper arms and scuttle panel. Freshens it up nicely:






And also bought and old shitter of a china '6. Got it cheap as the previous owner didn't have a clue and tried modding it themselves, and ruined it.

Mate, I wouldn't try cutting a scooby tunnel in to a 306, just do the whole floor plan so you get all the suspension pick ups and that and then you can use scooby seats too

This tbh, that's how 90% of rwd stuff is done to fwd cars cut scooby one out, line upto 306, cut 306, weld in scooby floor, job done haha

I'm not fussed about using the seats from the scooby.

I plan on using different running gear to that of the scooby as well, so mounting the engine in a standard 306 bay won't be too much of an issue.

I'm not looking for AWD front engined. It's been done a fair few times before. RWD front engined however ....

Update:

So yesterday Myself and Niall set about dropping the new engine in. This was abruptly stopped, as the ECU set I had for the engine, had a PH3 BSI, and mine was a PH2, meaning different plugs, so that plan had to be stopped

We then took the power steering unions to Pirtek, to have a pipe made up, for the EPAS setup. The chap at Pirtek braised the wrong end of the pipe on, meaning that didn't fit. So no power steering for me.

So we tried to get the AUX belt back on, but without a P/S pump as a pulley, this proved impossible to route and tension, so I now have nothing charging my batteries.



All in all, a shit day



So to spend today trying to rectify the above, and get a working car again. f*cking thing

I'd be tempted to get some matt black vinyl and have a go at doing the rub strips and front and rear bumpers in matt black (much like a phase 1) so it all ties-in with the wheel arch extensions and bonnet...

So managed to find a way of tensioning the belt. Using a cam belt tensioner

Belt I bought today was the wrong length though, so got to try again tomorrow. Third time lucky and all that!

So.... Finally managed to get my battery charging again. 4th belt lucky. Used a camblet tensioner in the end to get it going



Pretty much the same as this (shamelessly nicked from Dum-Dum's old HDI project) Yes that's a 6PK698




And fitted my black harnesses that I swapped with Matt for my Red ones haha. Beautifully modelled by Kola:



Then the plan is to get the power steering up and running on Thursday. Fingers crossed

So it's gone a bit quiet in here lately, due to the fact that I am re-doing the driveway at home. Bit of a mammoth, had to take 2 weeks off work to get it done. Im off 'till tuesday to try and coplete it

No. Should it be then?

Your the landscaper/pikey/builder, you should know.

But all the ones I've seen that are just on hard packed dirt just sink and the smaller the stones the worse it is. Even stuff that only gets foot use gets uneven within a few years. I've seen pikey block paved driveways collapse under the weight of cars within a few weeks.

Theres 4 inches of type 1 crushed concrete, 3 inches of MOT scalpings, and 2 inches of concrete, then the sand and block.

Overkill, but meh.

TBH overkill on driveways is the way forward as redoing a sub standard job especially where there is some concrete involved is a mammoth job. The driveway at my parents old house I helped do and there's about 6 inches of reinforced concrete on top of MOT. Overkill for a driveway but itll never need re doing

Exactly. The old driveway was about 10-12 inches of sold concrete. It was solid, just looked shite. That was a bastard to get up, and took about 2 grab loads to take away.


My grans driveway has 14 inches of reinforced concrete under it, and had a camper van parked on it for 12 years, and not to mention the 5 or so cars I have stored on it. Not moved an inch.

So not much of an update. Had a pretty epic day in the new forest today for pugfest.

Didn't clean the car as CBA, but pompeymark managed to get some decent pics none-the-less
