So its failed mot again.
Quite gutted about it. But I think station might be trying to do one on me. So taking it back to my usual station.

Have you actually jacked the car up and looked into the faults listed before casting doubt over the integrity of the MOT tester?

Fault 002 - twisted brake hose. How do you do lock to lock steering on a REAR brake hose?

I've just looked back over the previous failure sheet, and all three of the items that it's just failed on were items that you would have either disturbed or replaced to address failings on the previous MOT.

Check the actual hub balljoint hole itself if the balljoint itself has been replaced - it's getting increasingly common for these to wear/distort to an oval shape which allows the balljoint pin to move around in the hole even when the pinch bolt is correctly torqued up.

Cheers for the help, will check soon as I can. I have hub on the black gti6 anyway so it's ok.

Bingo unless they have a disclaimer stating that if removed from site and not retested within less that 10 days...this is how you get cheap MOTs, no retest !
I have been always warned about cheap mots and to ask before I book it the smokey old bus that sounds like a tractor...

That's why I said to you this morning pal, at least it'll be quick and when you said he's doing a full retest I found it a bit odd
02-04-2014, 07:44 PM
Well where I usually go they only check what failed. But after mot my uncle told me they have to legally do full retest, byt should of known not to listen to him hea always full of shit.

its a bastard when things like that happen, I have not drove my 306 hardly since it passed the mot, as its got a bloody rust hole the size of a small orange and the back box is due to fall off, something is wrong with the centre pipe, as that's the only part I got replaced, a mate of mine tried to sort the exhaust out last year with better rubbers, but it still eat those, so a replacement system is here, waiting to go on!
Don't get fed up pal, these things happen it's just the joy of owning cars, if your dad's away mate and you want it sorting gimme a shout and I'll get the old rags on
2 issues are only a hub and carrier might be worth getting another leg with those in decent nick, should be no more than 20 - 30quid and possibly a new pinch bolt from pug for a few quid, and the rear brake hose... lock to lock check you tell me pal but im sure we can cross match to mine and see how it should be

Problem is just need a hand getting hub off the black gti6 as engine has been dropped, So it's pain in arse. Rear brake hose will just be taking caliper of and checking it. Just more of a annoyance than anything. :-)
