Here she is,
Finally got round to picking it up, discovered it needs a geadgasket change due to being driven with a seized thermostat but thats not the end of the world
At the previous owners yard:
And finally safely trailored back to mine enjoying some sunshine.
Where she lies now, all tucked up in the shed awaiting some love...
Thoughts are thinking of just selling it on as it stands now as i have handed in my notice at work and been offered a cheap diablo HDi Dturbo off a friend.
Car owes me £450 including getting it home so if i get offered more than that it can go seeing as i have the rallye and the clio i simply wont have the space or time for this.

Seems a shame to get rid of such an iconic car but just do what you have to do.
If you've just left your job and need cheap motoring then sell it on..

If i could keep it i would but the simple fact is i have bitten off more than i can chew as i already have the rallye which needs work and the clio which is very very time consuming.
Hopefully me purchasing it means it can go to someone in the club and it can be saved though so not all bad its definately tidy enough

I can definitely vouch for how tidy it is, easily the cleanest standard phase 1 I've seen in a very long time
In the best phase 1 colour too :-)

As much as i would love this i just cant. Big shame the head gasket is gone which in my opinion makes it top money for what your getting

Not trying to sounds funny and please dont take this the wrong way as i genuinely dont understand what your saying, but please explain what you mean by top money?
Cant decide if you think im asking too much or quite what
If time and money permits i will happily put a gasket on it and thermostat (and head skim / pressure test obvs) and would have to cambelt and service it at the same time. but then its a chain reaction, if i spend that on it i may aswell wang it in for MOT and see what it needs, honestly cant imagine it would need a thing!
Like i say it really is a case of bitten off more than i can realistically chew in my circumstances and with my commitments, but hopefully it can be saved by someone who will appreciate it for what it is and not some knob that wants the engine for a 205.

What im saying is that from what i understand if anyone wanted to buy the car off you they would have to pay £450 which in my opinion is a fair bit of money (top price) for the car with the head gasket gone which i guess you bought the car not knowing the head gasket was gone? Don't get me wrong if i had the money and you were local to me i would love to buy this off you and put the spare engine that i will 1 day get round to rebuilding and my 6 speed box
At the end of the day i have seen them on ebay when they pop up every now and again and they never really make very good money for what they are. I think they are great cars and engines for the price they seem to go for. Like i have said back along i paid £200 for my 1 with a noisy gear box. I know it prob isn't as good condition as this 1 and defiantly not as good colour. I have brought 3 S16s off ebay and the most i have paid was £275.
Im not trying to be a d*ck and put people off your car as like i said i would love this car but its just a massive shame the head gasket is gone but i would say if you were to fix it and you found the right buyer easy a £1000+ car

Thats that cleared up no offence taken
I realise its top money for the car, the fact the headgasket was blown was hidden from me when i bought it (they had wiped the mayo of the cap) and i didnt have it running for an overly long time, its not legal so i couldnt test drive it properly.
Its not a desperate sale and like i said i may well just stop my bitching and man up with it and get it done

They all seem to have the mayo in the oil filler cap. Mine gets it pretty bad due to condensation I think. It's a pain as it gets into the idle control valve and then makes that play up.
I think you should get it fixed IMO. Would be a great little car and I can only see it going up in value

What you have said there is almost swaying my mind to thinking the headgasket isnt blown... i was basing my findings on the fact that i know its overheating due too a seized thermostat (top rad hose is cold when engine is hot) and also once its warm it idles funny and misfires which i was putting down to the headgasket...
compression test time methinks.
