Phone boffins required - Android Bluetooth pairing in car.
#1
All, (F.R.A.T warning)

As some of you may know I have recently purchased a 2005 BMW 530d. It has iDrive including bluetooth.

I also own a Samsung Galaxy S2, rooted running the stock OS.

This leads me to my problem.
I cannot get the phone to pair to the car for any period of time. it will find, connect and then 30 secs later disconnect again before reconnecting, getting stuck in an endless loop. It fails to download my phone book although it has done it once.

Now Blackberries will connect, as will an iPhone so I know the car is working fine. This is a well documented problem with no proper solution. All the solutions that ive read ive tried and still no joy.

Anyone else got any suggestions? And please dont say get an Iphone! lol

Cheers

You dont need an iphone as they are for people seeking to be cool. What i found when trying to connect a blutooth keyboard to my phone is that it will try over and over unless the correct passcode is entered. Thats the four digit pairing code which is normally 0000 or 1234. Is the phone in some kind of power saving blutooth connection mode where it turns off when the blutooth connection is active?

The code is self selecting, as in i can choose both on the phone and the car. I just use 0000.

And I have no idea about the power saving thing. As far as im aware its fine. it will connect to my works 2011 Focus no problem.

Possible incompatibility between versions of bluetooth? Do they even have different versions?

Cant believe I am the most helpful for once... I think there may be different blutooth versions but the car is pretty new and the phone is new so they should be perfectly compatible but obviously not :/ Erm... once they are paired maybe try switching the phone off and then back on again. It might force it to reconfigure and automatically connect without a problem :/

Tried that.

It really is getting on my tits. Its not like im even going to be using it all the time, I just want it working, seen as it works on all other phones. I need to find someone with the same phone and try it.

It does. It connects to my work Focus, home surround sound system and my Plantronics Stereo Headset with no issues at all. Oh and it also connects to the Sony headunit in my Rallye
