Speculation aside the guy may actually be telling the truth about his brakes failing. Most of the trucks in Mpumalanga (where I was the last two years) were liabilities to be honest and breakdowns were commonplace. I narrowly avoided a jack-knifed double trailer cab once which slid through a red light when I was there!

A lot of over-analysing going on around the interweb over the video, people saying the brake lights only come on half way across the junction. The speed he's going too doesn't seem to add up, my money's on the guy not paying attention on approach..

See if i was a truck driver, if i knew something was up i'd be planting it in the side of the road or something, not careering straight for a busy junction. Then it's a one vehicle crash, not a 10+ one.

What you've got to consider is the fact you weren't there. There could well have been a group of school kids walking to school, or a coach load of nuns broken down by the side of the road preventing him from doing so.

Correct, any humane person would take the path of least detrimental affect. But we cant see outside that shot.
