Brake spanner size ?

Brake spanner size ?

I'll be changing my rear beam on the weekend, want to make sure i got the right tools before i start, i need to buy a brake spanner to undo the brake lines, anyone know what size i need and will i need more than one size ?

Vise grips will do the job if your worried about a normal spanner slipping.

16 and 11mm possibly a 13 somewhere

11mm Smile Make sure its a proper brake pipe spanner and not a normal one. Also, start getting them soaked now!

The 11mm side goes into a bigger size, converted mine to discs few months ago

The flexihose you need to remove to get the beam off is 14mm and 17mm iirc

use special plumbers grips, the ones that grip harder the harder you try and turn it...crack it off with those then normal spanner

but a good brush and soak now will do wonders

Get a proper 6 sided brake pipe spanner I got one for a few quid off ebay best tool I bought for brakes

Actually 10.5mm so be careful about rounding. Odd sizes...

There shit dont bother, mole grips i had to use. Actually snapped mine they were that tight

Thanks for the link I bought the spanner you linked to and found it to be stronger than the one I had. It finally got the pipe union off without rounding it.

Thanks for the link I bought the spanner you linked to and found it to be stronger than the one I had. It finally got the pipe union off without rounding it.

No worries mate. That's the one ive got and never had any problems.
