Goodbye 306 ownership..

Yup, it's decided, the meatwagon will meet its maker after FCS this year. One final swansong for it before I move on to bigger and better things.

I say bigger and better, I mean literally bigger and arguably better. I have my eye on a Hilux Surf with a lift kit and big tyres. We all know they can take a beating, MPG isn't TOO bad on them, and i've always wanted a jacked up truck tbh.

The 306 will be broken up for parts Autumn this year. Plenty of shinies that will be useful to people, a nice refurbed GT2056, a refurbed 23.5mm GTi rear beam, D2 coilies, 302mm brakes.. if I can top £1k from the car i'll be a happy man.

So yeah, bit gutting, but we still have FCS to go. Roll on July Smile

Fair play, the surf's are pretty epic. Getting parts for them is a massive PITA though.

Am genuinely shocked reading this. There arent many who have committed as much time to their car as you. Sad times.

Gotta do what you gotta do though man

Do us all a favour though mate, and don't disappear from the forum. Big Grin

Shame to see it go mate, but i'm sure there will be no end of interest in parts when you DO break it up. I for one am gonna start saving now! lol

Yeah I dunno, I just don't bother using it these days. It just sits there, not even looking pretty any more. It drives funky, sure there's suspension related issues as it clunks and pulls, i'm not getting the most out of the turbo but when I do floor it it's just wheel spinning..

Massive list of reasons. I'd do it all again in a heartbeat with another 306, but then I think why bother?

I just really really want a big badass truck. A kind of "go anywhere, smash anything" big motherfucker.

Best for it to end on your terms rather than a dead engine and an angry you! Should make a fair bit of money back on parts, good luck chap Smile
Doesnt even own a 306.

The condition the bodywork's in now, erm, it would be hard to do anything other than the ratty route. And running massive offset wheels means it's a bit of a handful to drive.

Could get different wheels and get it driving properly again, but then i've cut away all the arches so without the bolt-ons it's a health hazard of sharp metal haha.

f*ck aye, the wheels. There's another £400 to add to the parts list.

Would be awesome to matt black it and make it fast fast, strip it out and it would look mean as f*ck. But there's something deep down in it that makes me feel uncomfortable driving it.

You'll quite like my latest RC project lol, jacked up offroad truck with a zombie apocolypse theme not unlike the meatwagon! Albeit a little bit smaller and less expensive to run... (but, funnily enough, more reliable!)

Hilux' are really cool trucks mate, good luck finding a nice example on our shores that isn't a bloody ripoff!
Disclaimer: The above is not to be taken to heart and is probably a joke, grow up you big girl.

You can pick up late '90s ones including lift kits for under £2k these days mate. And i'm not afraid of a bit of graft to get it running right.

Plus I can use my epix paint skillz to make it badass. And my interior skillz to make the inside a bit more luxurious. Personally I think i'd rock an awesome truck. Oh and the thought of just driving it anywhere any time really appeals, unlike the 'wagon that is undriveable in the wet, never mind the snow!

Well i cant see why, when our roads are so smooth and flawless, whats the point of having a BFO truck?! lmao

Seriously though, I can appreciate the want of a "big badass truck", my old neighbour had a HUGE imported yank truck on his drive for a while (so big it was highly impractical around the small own i live in), but it looked awesome, and sounded pornographic when he did take it out. He also had a sticker across the tailgate saying "your skid stops here", which i found amusing. Big Grin

Haha, that's the spirit. A big "f*ck you" to society. I want to have to use every muscle in my body to haul myself into the thing.

I don't blame you for wanting a Hilux man, trucks on lift kits and huge wheels are a massive winner in my book!

Can't say I'm surprised at this, but it's still a massive shame, you've put so much time and effort into it.

Onto bigger and hopefully better things though, best of luck Big Grin

Do us a favour and stay around though, I'd love to see the progress of the truck!

Gunna have to save now! Will give you a deposit at FCS! Haha

Seriously though it will be gutting to loose the meat wagon, seeing it built up from just a shell to what it is now, going thought various wheels, mods and turbos. Will be sad to see it broken.

Only if someone offers what it's worth in parts, and that's not going to happen Wink

Put it this way..

Wheels (useless on this forum unless someone wants to run crazy offset and adapters) £400
23.5mm torsion bars £200, or complete GTi disc beam, three years old, zero play/camber, nearly new discs and pads £300
FMIC and all associated pipework £100
Spotlamp bar, relay and 4x55W spotlights £50
D2 coilovers with camber adjustable top mounts £150
Three month old reconditioned GT2056S on T2 manifold with 2.5" elbow and braided oil feed £200
307 302mm brakes with 6 month old discs and pads £100
Engine -
Berlingo mani £20
Bosch pump with LDA grind, 5mm gov shim, lines and injectors £80
GTi Nissens rad £40

Add in all the other random shite like gauges, MBC etc, easily looking at over £1500 for parts. That's not including other bits like hubs etc (that i'd need to assess before listing for sale)

if I take my time, which I could easily do seen as I don't really use it much anyway, you're talking anything up to £2k for it in bits...

Shame about this. But in the time mrs has had her new car I keep thinking why do I seriously need a diesel. I only go to work and back really. My neibour has a landy and I love the idea of really not giving a f*ck about it.
