er... you need to put the wires back together! If the circuit isnt complete then it will flash! There is a resistor you can put in the under seat wires to fool it but i cant remember the value!

Check the airbag ring behind the steering wheel, another thing that can wear.
Could be wrong here but you may need to disconnect the battery to clear the airbag fault.

Great idea. and then what happens when it comes mot time after April? "sorry sir, you car has failed because the airbags that were fitted as standard no longer are"
A flashing light indicates a seat problem. Dont bodge it with a resistor. Its just as easy to actually repair it by cutting the plugs off under the seats and soldering the wires.
Oh and piggy, ive seen plenty of crashed 306s with blown airbags. ask ed...

Air bag light and presence of standard airbags will be part of the MOT test as of April 2013.
We are currently in a 'bedding in' process which will end shortly and during that process, all of these issues are advise only.

not at all. The air bag light is a automatic fail on any car which has airbags regardless of age. The presence of airbags will be something that some may get away with due to car age. Seeing as the last 306 was produced in 2002, we may be lucky but doubt it.

Is this definite now? It was meant to be this time last year. Trying to get my Rallye in before April for this reason. http://www.dft.gov.uk/vosa/repository/Mo...202013.pdf page 4 tells me it's not yet ready to be brought in.
I got an advisory for airbag light on my HDi at the end of Jan.

This. I tried cully's trick with the plugs and if anything, it made it worse.
They're either getting soldered or bulleted when the weather warms up. My brothers has a solid light on, what's that refer to Niall? I can't remember.

Solid light is most probably drivers or passengers air bag or a airbag ECU fault. As has been said, the connector to the steering wheel can be temperamental!

Surely replacing the plugs with spade connectors is just as good? I don't have a soldering iron..I broke it

as long as they are insulated, yes. You can buy heat shrink bullet connectors from halfords. They are ideal!

I was just chatting to cully about that, I am going to re-vist them and if its not that, then hunt for some wiring looms from the seats to the airbag ecu as they join with orange plugs...?
