Before the hatoorz start I'm keeping my DT...
Right, I have 8k to get a car and insure it. Want something reliable, sporty as standard and that I can keep for a couple of years without getting bored..
Unless anyone has any suggestions I'm getting a MK5 G.olf GTI.

You'll soon get bored of a mk5 golf....
With 8k there must be better things about than that lol!! However fun and sporty doesn't tend to be reliable as well....

Ill say it again!
Im so glad someone has posted this. It just goes to prove that "its german so its great" is not true at all! I wouldnt buy a german car tbh. Its all just over priced, over hyped crap and you look like every other german car driver with their head so far up their own arse because they drive a german car!

Why the gofl over an a3 man?
Also, love the standard french car owners opinion of vags/german motors. So hilariously typical and ignorant. Get over yourselves!

This man speaks sense
Add to that an e39 m5, that's what I would get personally. Ok, it could ruin you potentially but assuming your insurance comes in under 1500, 6.5k should get you an ok one. It's only the vanos problems that cost a bomb, but apparently there are now cheap solutions available. I fkin will have one within two years.. That noise... Straight through ss system...
That or a Monaro, as mentioned earlier!

The A3 equivalent is the 3.2 v6 which is to much to insure unfortunately

Newer Leons look awful though...
I'm struggling to work out what you want from the new car Jake? .you want something reliable, fast and sporty - but you're keeping the dt for what I assume is weekend fun but which will probably be slower? I don't get it, if you wanted reliable, slow and eco fair enough, but you're gonna end up with a daily which is more fun than the weekend car surely?

I'm keeping the DT because its my hobby. And I'd be more than happy with something equally as fast that is reliable...
So yes. Fast, sporty, reliable. The dt will be off the road for at least 6months now. And then will be insured on a low mileage policy after that.

Another vote for an E46 M3, though I think you'd struggle to buy and insure one for that price in all honesty. They're about 7.5k for a decent one so you'd probably end up at least a grand over budget on one.
Does it have to be practical? What about an S2k?

If insurance is too much on a V6 A3, an S2K may be a bit ambitious... although if you can afford it, go for it!
