TD04 Turbo Info please!!
#1
Lightbulb
Right its time to upgrade my turbo as my k03 is on its way out!
Instead of replacing it with a T2 I took to mind "GO BIG OR GO HOME"

Im now looking for a TD04 and was wondering what I would need for it to bolt straight on....

Ive seen someone selling adapters so that's a start Smile

Think Ruan needs to make a looong topic on whats needed for a TD04 and pin it, or somebody as its always being asked.
MG ZR TD+ - gone and easily forgotten
Fabia vRS PD130 - New daily
Astra H VXR - new toy!

£75's pricey? lmao

Sorry but if someone thinks £75 for a blower is expensive they need to rethink modifying their car...

Not sure saying "its the laggy one" is entirely. Although yes it is a larger hotside and will spool slightly later

No I know, I really meant laggier one, out of the TD04 choice.

I disagree, i think people should just stop being lazy and read through the masses of information that is available already.
On the 306 waiting list.

And probably a 19t/g at that

get an oil return made up by Jenkosowls mate and cj for the adapters.personally i think £75 for a turbocharger is a fair price if their is no shaft play and considering you can pay thousands for a turbo.

People need to stop being such tightarses, or do some research so they know how to find cheaper/fit cheaper ones....

As much as people try and make them 'easy' to put on like with the feeds/plates etc you still need to do abit of leg work with your car and with your research. If you know exactly what you're looking for/know how you want your setup you can get it all up and running for pennies.. but that takes research and time to wait for things to come along.... but I mean fucks sake, when your looking at sub £150 for a larger turbo fully fitted to your motor I dont know how people can complain at that... man the f*ck up, pay some cash and get it done/out the way, or spend a little longer doing some more research/possibly making your own things maybe? theres no easy way to say get XYZ and bolt those to ABC and it'll cost you £1.23. If you want bolt on stuff then you have to pay for the convenience and its cheapest its ever been.

If you think about it, a hybrid bolt on turbo for a Audi tdi etc. will cost £1000+, in comparison to spending £200 and maybe doubling stock power, it's an absolute bargain imo. Fair enough it won't be a hybrid, but there not really necessary for these.

You can get bargains though, my TD04 was £23, my GT20 was £50, and it was mint, fully cleaned etc. Need to look out for badly advertised things on Ebay.

Yep agreed but the question I was asking is have most people with a td04 had the wastegate welded for it to fit??

Or atleast with cj's adaptors??

Some people have, some people havent, it makes a difference which turbo you have to how badly it will benefit/restrict you, hence do some research to understand why you should/shouldn't dewastegate.

Yeah most people do, I did. It is harder to fit the actuator down the back. I wouldn't worry too much about it over speeding and blowing it, they are pretty bulletproof. Just get an EGT gauge to keep an eye on temps.

Downside of welded gate, you need to run less fuel than if you had a gate, which will decrease power slightly. Still make good power though.
