1 know the following things:
-Battery aint great
(gauges flashed all full then back to bottom again), but its always turned over/started.
-Possible key/immobiliser issue.
Sometimes it just turns over and doesn't start. Pull the key out, put it in and start again, fires first time (rare, 1 in 10/15 times)
First time up in Cumbria with this car, left it standing for about 48hours in what has most likely been the coldest its ever been since I've had it.
Car turns over ok, but refuses to fire.
I've locked/unlocked the doors, with the remote fob a few times. Turned over a few times but still never fired.
obviously, battery is a little tired now, so i'm tempted for the sake of it to just replace the battery as first point of call.. but since it turns over I figured it would be alright?
Immobiliser issue has turned into a permanent fault... unknown if that's the case, is there any way i can test? All my spare keys are at home.
I do have RAC and I will phone them if required, just don't want them to rock up and tell me something obvious.

my Citroen Dispatch with HDI 90 engine is the same needs jumping all the time when it's quite cold and it's got a 2 year old Bosch battery on as well, turns over but doesn't catch.

If its turning over as normal then I can't imagine the battery is at fault.
I had exactly the same problem with my XSi - it was intermittent but I couldn't seem to find a fix, it was ages ago but if your key is in and you press the button on your steering wheel for 5s doesn't it disable the immo?

is that what that does?!?!
I'll give that a press after i've heard other thoughts, since i probably only have about 1 more attempt at starting before i will need a jump, which might not be the easiest given I am no-where to be found

Did you expect any different?
You tried bumping it?
Did the button you tried a minute ago work in the end or not?
have you double-locked it, then unlocked it?
Have you jiggled the key in the ignition barrel?

I've double locked it every time as part of my lock/unlock method.
I've not tried the button yet as i only have 1 more attempt then the battery will most likely be flat.
I've not jiggled it no, but i can try that

Well if your battery is nearly dead I'd start by getting it jumped mate. Sounds a lot like it's not even cranking fast enough to start anyway...

Are you stuck in Cumbria mate?
I'll come and tow it to mine, I'm sure we can get it fixed, if not at least it gives you a secure place to leave it for a week or so if needs must..

Why the hell were driving a 306 without tools?
It's like the 11th commandment "if thou owns an automobile of the peugeot 306 variety, thou must carry the equipment required to remove all of it's component parts"
