I HATE Car Insurance!
#1
Angry

Thought I'd finally got a plan worked out.

Rowells away at Uni now, and allowed me to use his HDi estate if I could fix it - awesome, gives me a diesel estate with a towbar to use for a while AND gets it off Sams drive and keeps it running/driving so everything doesn't sieze up/perish from being sat, ideal for both of us really.

Thats until I came to checking the insurance =

Quote:Unfortunately as you are not the registered keeper of the vehicle we would be
unable to offer cover.

FFFFFUUUUUUUU Dodgy

So thats that plan f*cked then! Sad

I'm still gonna go finish fixing it asap though, can't wait to get it running....assuming it hasn't done a Kentiboi...... Confused

So yeah, just a bit of a rant really, I can't be the only one who hates car insurance, f*cking rip off, get nothing back from it after paying shitloads out, then when I'm happy to pay for stuff (like changing to the estate, or adding certain mods to a Golf) they won't even allow it...plus I'm not allowed 3rd party DOCs until I'm 25iirc. Admiral group is shit.

Tom

Just because the car is not registers to you dose not mean you are not the legal owner, just look at what it says on the V5

I'm pretty sure you're not the only one who hates car insurance.

Correct me if I'm wrong though.

you should be able to find a way around it. are you trying to swap you insurence on to it or start new?

True, which is why I should be able to insure it! Dodgy

Swap it so I don't lose over half a years ncb. Only way around it would be to buy the estate off Sam lol, but I don't think that's gonna happen haha!

narrrr, only way you can insure a car these days that's not your own name is if it's in your spouse's name . . . . . there's another option for you . . . .Big Grin

just lie and say youv just bought it and it will be in your name, or just say sam is your gay lover/partner and that you need to be insured on it and if they wont start going off the head because they are discriminating aganst your gayness

Rowell can take out a policy on it and have you as the main driver, I've done this before.

That costs money that niether of us have though, cheaper for me to just swap the Avensis for another hdi when I find the right one, then Sam can swap the estate onto his own insurance when he comes back from uni.

Why the hell did you buy the Avensis again?!?! So now it's no good for you so you have to use Hitlers HDi? Why not just buy a HDi?!?!

God damn!

the insurance wouldnt even let me insure my dads car on a temp policy either, that was to get cover for mot etc.
they said that id have to be come the registered keeper of the car,
i told them by the time dvla sort the paper work out, i could have sold the car on. in the end my dad sold it on as it was.
but what i dont get tom, is you have just bought the toyota and now you are looking at running sams estate?
why didnt you make sam an offer on the estate in the 1st place? fix what was wrong with it and ran that.

Just get him to sign it over to you, effectively you buy it. Then when he gets back, "sell" it back to him. Simples Big Grin

Or just drive without insurance.

We all kno that once the police ANPR flags up that you dont have insurance and they try to stop you, you coal them so they cant see anything then find some brilliant twisty roads....306 is a great get away car providing it doesnt break down!

im joking btw.....dont do this unless you live by my reasoning for having points on my licence. Points mean prizes! (and fines)

Well, you're a big, hard Northerner so I know I'm not gonna be able to make you understand. Tongue Rolleyes But apart from the fact there are certain places I need to be almost everyday which are impossible without a car (you live in the city/town right? Try living 12 miles from town - where a taxi would cost £25 one way just to town, and busses don't come often, or go to the right places). But mainly it was really f*cking with my other 'issues' atm...you dont want to have seen the state of my toilet, or arse, last week, trust me on that.

Then Sam said I was welcome to use his HDi if I could fix it....well, seeing as its 45mins to Sams in the car, I wouldn't like to walk it lol. So my theory was buy a cheap car which should sell on easily (and lets face it, the toyota is under 10 years old, low milage and has a years MOT, can't be hard to sell on). Run it for a few weeks while sorting 'things' out and fixing the HDi, then swap to the HDi for a few months, while looking for my own HDi, breaking the Golf so I've got more money for a decent HDi and getting other things sorted out (the ball started rolling just before the Golf broke....).

Unfortunately the Golf breaking couldn't have come at a worse time in all honesty, but it happened and cant be changed, as someone said last week - make a decision and stick to it, right or wrong - so I did what I thought made the most sense and what was within my limits atm.

I must admit, I was tempted to ask if he'd do this - I'd hope we can trust eachother enough by now to do that, but obviously that'd stick an extra 2 owners on the car, which Sam might not want to do. Dunno if it sounds a bit cheeky to ask though - although obviously he can read this anyway lol.

Don't wanna tempt fate but I don't have any points, yet. Confused

And its a standard HDi.....coaling isn't gonna happen!

Is that all? - I remember paying £1800 on a 1.4 on my second year!! Just because it was lowered with an induction cone. Dodgy

Mutlicar worked out crap for me on two cars, and for me, my mum and step dad on our entire driveway full lol...obviously it works better for some than others though! Smile

What was the need for that? I was asking why you bought another temporary car when you could use Sams HDI, why didn't you just say you didn't know you could use it?

F*cks sake.

Christ calm down, it was a joke after the Northern references in the previous thread. Seeing as needing a stop gap was more to do with my own problems than the HDi.

tom i have to back liam on that, i wouldnt have said that was a joke maybe if you had put a sticky out tounge smiley. as its worded to be nasty.
anyway tom i hope you get something sorted, see what the crack is with sams HDI tho as it may just need a few quid spending on it and you may have a good car, with the remains of what you have off the golf funds and the toyota. you could make sam an offer on buying it.

Ok well I apologise if it came across like that, really wasn't meant to - if you'd seen the thread with a comment about northners eating iron and shitting steel that was the thread I meant - was Liams comment so he should've remembered it lol.

I know the craic with Sams HDi....I'm fixing it. Tongue
