Avensis Electrical Issues??
#1
Hi

Well two main issues, if I can sort them then people have less to haggle off the car.

1. Pass electric window doesn't work on either button - possibly fuse gone??

Cullys gonna stick up a PDF for this....cheers Cully. Smile

2. Rear wiper never stops! Well it does when its unplugged lol - anyone know common issues with these? Toyota forums seem to be wank. I'm gonna check the relay for corrosion first.

Cheers
Tom

Passenger window could be an embarrassing fault but one which many of the Celica boys fall foul of. There was a push-button which prevented the passenger window operation.

Otherwise I would assume that the windows are all on the same use, so it could be the motor.

As for the rear wiper, can you get a multimeter on the plug? Does the power come on with ignition? As that would indicate a wiring fault or a fault in the stalk...

Wait........that button on the drivers door is to stop the passenger window? The button is missing the top 'button' part, and is stuck in........ I understand rear window stop buttons.......but why would you need it on the front!? lol

Havent touched the wiper yet, thought it'd be wise to spend the dry weather giving it a wash and hoover instead.

Yep its very likely to be that button then buddy.

I think the idea is that you can disable the passenger airbag and have another child in the front passenger seat, something which would be a pain if you couldn't stop the operation of the window... Of course on a Celica you didn't get rear windows, just front ones. The amount of cars which were got for a knock-down price because the passenger window 'didn't work' was absurd!

Yeah thats fair enough I guess. Funny thing is it has manual rears, so children could open them anyway lol, just seems like an odd setup!

Assuming its that button.......could I just join the wires together underneath it and bypass it?

I would think so yes.

And kids should struggle to undo keep-fit windows dude, the child seat usually pins them to the backrest and they wouldn't have a chance to lean far enough forward to reach the windy handle Smile
