Rear Disk Wheel Bearing

Have a question

Im getting a recond axle and dont think it comes with wheel hub and bearing. Can i remove hub and bearing from my old axle and replace on new axle? Or are they fu**ed once removed?

nope you can pope them off and put the straight on the other axle on the condition they actually come off.

I took 1 off there b4 work and it split. It left the inner race on the shaft, can i still use it?

not with a disc axle, the seal usually gets damaged when they get split.

best bet if you really want to re-use a disc bearing is to knock the stub pin through which will leave it intact, you can also check that the new beam has the same length stub axle.

don't forget the spacer behind the bearing.

How much force does it take to knock the stub out? Thought about replacing mine.

varies, usually a good copper hammer will get them out, but a press is much kinder on them and less chance of damage.

if you're fitting new then no need to do that.

They're about 100 each to buy, thats why i want to reuse them.

Yeah the seal is damaged but ill fire it back on anyway to get through test then change it when i can afford.

i use a 3 leg puller or press the stub axle out, wouldnt advise hitting the stub axle in anyway

Smashed out loads of stub axles and yet to have an issue. For what it's going to cost i would just fit new wheel bearings tbh, especially since one is already dead.

oem is SNR, fitted a few firstline bearings recently which gave been snr.

also premier packaged have been SNR.

and Motaquip.

motaquip for pug and citroen is probably the first place I'd go for non o.e stuff, its a motorfactor brand that PSA started in 1981, a lot of the stuff they do is oem in different packaging.

used to be that cars older than 5 years would be serviced/repaired at dealers with motaquip unless otherwise specified.

firstline for anything other than bearings and cables I am rather wary of.

So the hatchback and estate have different part numbers

374845 estate Vs 374832 for hatch

Are they interchangeable ?

looks like could be offset difference - estate has a higher 'height' of 65 vs 59 of the hatch

i think the estate non abs may have used 205 stubs and hubs, all the saloons/hatch abs and non abs used the same taller ones as far as I know.

early ph2 with ABS have a different spacer washer so have a different bearing kit number

they have swapped the front and rear washer on the later ones

Hi, I also need a bit of help with rear wheel bearings.  Just been through this thread and can't find a link to the correct part (1993 zx volcane td 5dr non abs).  What did you guys decide was the best option?
