Ignition On When Off and No Blowers
#1
Dear 306 team, I am totally lost. (This is a follow-on from the fb post)

Have any of you ever had this?
https://youtu.be/Dq_6HObjGU0

Ignition is on when key is off but on the next stage of ignition it turns it off.
I have followed all the connections back that I have taken apart and they're all as they were.
Only thought I now have is somewhere in the engine bay. But I have no idea where I'd look.

Has anyone fixed this before and if so please tell me what wires you found to be wrong.

These are all OK

Not sure what the big white connector does but one lad on fb reckoned it wasn't used being a rallye.

I also have no blower after putting the dash back in after doing the heater matrix.
This is the only wire I don't undersand

This is good

So now I'm totally confused.  Undecided Please help!

Oh and fuses are all good.

Anyone near Leatherhead, Surrey or who is passing and wouldn't mind looking casing their eye over it for a few seconds, I'd be exceedingly grateful!

Relay is good. Power to blower too.

It worked before I took it all apart but now I'm getting to the point where it might be blower.

Check the plugs down on the leg in the engine bay, bet the pins are shorting and corroded to f*ck

When I took the whole lot apart a while ago there was one really bad one.
I took it out and ran a wire round but the rest seemed lovely.

I guess it's going back up on the jack for a little bit now then.

Big Connector

Smaller Connector

Fan Connector
The nasty one is the one with the wire by-passing it.

Got the multimeter on them earlier and a lot of the connections have continuity between them, but I suspect that would be the case as a lot of them come from the battery.

I have found something like this with 406, Cause from the ignition key barrel bottom problem.

Have you already swap the key barrel ? 405, 406, 306 i assume that they have the same internal structure.

If the problem come from key barrel, you can swap only internal component and use the same key.

Nah mate, i think its just that bottom plug... isn't it the main cause of fires and electrical faults?

So get that plug and connector sorted asap, you can see the corrosion in there!

That nasty one is the one I've by-passed.
