Hmmm, reminds me that I need to stop being in denial and have a look at the NSR on mine to see how bad it is - the fact that the last owner lived down a muddy track and hence the wheel arches were clogged with thick, wet mud doesn't bode particularly well I fear.
Like others I suspect I'm baffled why Peugeot chose not to put an arch liner on that side.

Can get 5L of under-seal for a £5'er and doesn't take more then half a day over the weekend.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread however I'm faced with the same rust problem on my Dad's 306 Estate and your rust looks very similar.
Did you weld in a panel from a scrap vehicle?

Doubtful, probably just used 2mm (?) sheet metal cut to the right shape. Hasn't got to look pretty at the end of the day, it's all covered with trim pieces.

2mm be far too thick. I'm not sure but I think Peugeot used 0.8mm steel.
Should still last the lifetime of the car if protected properly at 0.8.
