My check straps make a clunking noise due to the pin being loose. I don't really want to buy the whole check strap unit because they are £30 quid each, but I could just get the brackets and pins, which would stop the pin moving in the bracket. Am I right in thinking this would stop the clunking, or does the actual strap also need to be a good fit on the pin?
Thanks

Normally a bolt will do it. Clean the f*ck out of the joins etc, grease them
Up and that should help

A bolt instead of a pin? Surely that would be a looser fit?

Pin should sort get a bigger one, check the 2 nuts are tight that hold the strap to the door, they'll make a racket when there loose aswell.

I think its worn behond the point that a new pin would work, its been like it for 2.5 years! Will definatley need a new bracket with the pin, just hopefully not check strap

You could drill out the bracket and strap a bit bigger and put in a biggervsize pin to match.
