Cannot View A Private Message

I have an unread message in my inbox, but when I click on the "Messages" tab I get the error

You do not have permission to access this page. This could be because of one of the following reasons:

1)Your account has either been suspended or you have been banned from accessing this resource.

2)You do not have permission to access this page. Are you trying to access administrative pages or a resource that you shouldn't be? Check in the forum rules that you are allowed to perform this action.

3)Your account may still be awaiting activation or moderation. (Resend Activation Code)

4) You have accessed this page directly rather than using appropriate forms or link.

I tried 3) resend "Activation Code" but got the message back "It appears your account is already activated or does not require email verification"

I know it is not 4) , pretty sure it is not 2)

I can view threads OK in the forum, so I am pretty sure it is not 1)

please can anybody give me a few other ideas to try, or who I should contact - obviously I cannot PM them :-(

Scott sent a mass FCS message to everyone which somehow included people with under 10 posts but they can't open it....

That's right I didn't want to miss out any newbies who are active and would have been able to read the PM within a couple of days, so anyone with close to 10 posts would also have received it.
