VNT Accuator damange, thoughts?
#1
Ok, so after the courier turning up when I wasn't home, then having to spend an hour looking for thier depot this morning....I finnally got my turbo....but, the vaccum actuator (i think?) Seems to have taken a good whack! :problem:

Hoping someone like Ruan or darren can tell me if that could have broke anything inside? Or if I can just swap my old one onto it? Or if I just ignore it and whack it on anyway? Just getting pretty pissed off with the whole thing now, quicker its fixed quicker it can be sold.

Cheers for any help,
Tom

They look bloody huge from that angle! Doubt there's any real damage.

Yeah, as long as you do not touch the length of the actuator rod, you'll be fine...

If I were you, before you touch owt, measure the length of the threads left on the actuator rod on each, if it's the same, swap them, if not, then use the new one, it'll be fine, it's just a spring inside, so it might have tensioned the spring a bit, but I'd more than expect it to be fine.

Just literally undo the two bolts underneath the actuator, don't pull off the bracket, just take off the actuator and circlip. Do not under any circumstances undo the actuator rod bolt or attempt to twist the can, if it cracks the paint, you've just pissed your warranty up the wall... Also the stop screw on the other side, don't touch or go near it, just incase you crack the paint, cause then it's obvious and your warranty is toast.

Essentially it won't do any harm to your car, it's just your warranty you might affect if you accidentally crack the paint.

Get a vacuum source on it and test it all operates as normal.

And get Vagcom on it and do an actuator test once fitted...

Why was my post deleted?

Ed: Cause it was unhelpful and a trolling from what I can remember of it.

Cool, cheers! Big Grin

Ruan - I tried with the dyson and didn't get very far.... :? Seriously though, I will try and find someone with proper vagcom as I don't really have any vaccum scource.

For anyone that cares, mani is now back on and nuts are torqued....just the inlet side to put back together after college.

Surely your car has a vac pump....how do you think it works in the first place..

Also, you should really start naming your topics with more relevent names, because i ignored this thread the first few times, as just saw "FFS" by toms306, and just thought, yet another rant / spam thread not worth reading, but it infact was acually a genuine thread with genuine question...if you had called it "VNT Accuator damange, thoughts?" or something, id have been in here like a shot / so would alot of other people who likely skipped past it thinking "ffs another tom thread"..

Just saying....

Yeah it has a vaccuum ball thing, but I'd have to run the engine for that to create vaccuumso not really something I can do before manis are back on...?

And yeah I could've named it differently....my bad.

To be honest, if it arrived in that condition, I'd be sending it back. Even if there is the smallest amount of doubt in your mind that the damage 'might' be more than just superficial, I'd get the distributor to fix it by supplying another one / collecting that one.

Hope the turbo never goes on the Focus dieselbus, was working on the EGR valve at the weekend and the snail is located right down at the bulkhead!
Disclaimer: The above is not to be taken to heart and is probably a joke, grow up you big girl.

I can't be arsed with the hassle tbh Chris, it already took their 48hour courier nearly a week to deliver it.......and it was supposed to be back on the road by 24th.....yes thats tomorow! :o So I just want it back together asap now. This one isn't exactly easy to get out...either have to take out the driveshaft or inlet mani for it...aswell as most of the intake pipes and stuff lol, but as daft as it might sound...I actually kinda enjoy the challenge. I'm taking my time and triple checking everything as I go anyway, kinda annoying that I only get an hour or two here and there to do this but at least I can see the end of it now... Smile

And I'd better avoid a shandy....it'd probably put me over the limit. lol
