I don't think I'm old enough to go with green light don't you have to be 21?

Yes, you do. Most of the specialist modified brokers stipulate that.

You're not 21? Sorry Nathan, you look & seem older in person! Admiral were usually cheapest for me at younger ages. I was insured on my Lancer Evo iii at 21 for around £1k with them (albeit with a hefty excess) still not bad all things considered.

Have insurance companies done a real price hike over the last few years then? My gti6 I had at 19 was insured for under £1k p.a. with admiral. This was only in 2009. AFAIK my later HDI was no cheaper.

I paid 1450 for a year for a 1.1L 106 TPFT when I was 20. I'd already had a license for a year but no UK no claims and they didn't count foreign named driver bonuses.
It has come down now that I've some NCB and I'm older though, thankfully.
So insurance prices have climbed significantly since you started driving eh Chris?
Wonder what could have caused that?
Only messing with you.

19 atm, first car 1.9 s reg nad, did a lot of 'bending the truth' to get it cheaper, 550 deposit and 211 a month. Next year after I have my no claims bonus it goes to 120 a month for a dturbo counting down the months haha

£1400 PA at 25 for a dturbo, would have been double that if i had gone for monthly payments. Only got my licence a few days before getting the insurance though. And about £100 of that is breakdown cover and injury insurance, got upsold like an idiot. Hoping it will halve or better next year, if the car makes it that far.

Just had a wee read through this thread and i'm shocked at what a lot of you guys are paying for insurance! at the end of the day you don't have a choice though, they are just ripping people off. Thankfully i'm a bit older than a few of you on here. I've just turned 28 and have 6 years NCB (driving for nearly 11 years though) and my insurance for my 306 Rallye is £155 a year fully comp! I cant say i've ever had to pay silly amounts for insurance, just lucky with my age i suppose.
