ebay bargain £480 china blue phase 3 cab SE!

Tongue
Hi all,

Been some time since i last visited, anywho last time i was here i owned a tie break 306 cab and loved it. Sold it due to financial issues. However im back behind the wheel of another cabby! Smile

Seen via ebay a good 300 mile rou d trip away, a phase 3 china blue with matching hood and sahara tan. 72k miles on the clock and a full mot. Won for just £480.

Lowdown.....
the roof didnt work ( shanked bolt for the smaller R roof room had snapped so both side arms with the welded bolts were remkoved and another specific shanked bolt scourced Smile. Sorted.
The rad was shagged so... after a lot of investigation and messing around an aluminium unit was bought but the quality was poo. So an original ordenzo peugeot rad was found 300 mile round trip again. But all sorted and runs so well!

Bought in the end of june 2014, its me and my fiances main car and so far has covered 11k miles, taken us to lands end and the following months to john o groats without fault. Not bad but its really struggling now i think

The front bearings are grubbling
the front hubs are crosd threading my wheel nuts
the front and rear discs are warped
its misfiring when cold
theres an awful strong smell of petrol when i fill the tank now.. ( inside mainly)
need new gear linkage rods from kam
need rear beam bearings and seals etc and also mounting bushes sorting.
New rear dampers as they appear to be leaking
front alloys are buckled
need a new roof due to the cat sitting on it and making the front part above the driver and passenger go saggy which cant be tensioned here ( outter fabric).
Need a new aero seal ( andy jordan of the 306cab.com club might be helping here though)
new lower arms and new drop links and track rod ends
Cambelt etc that goes with it
a conplete service and change all fluids

The plan is to take it off the road ( still insured and taxed) and get a run around and do the jobs on the cab as and when,
some of the above are put in to do while i have the opportunity to do and get it totally sorted before it goes back on the road again.

I dont want to sell it as i have waited a long time for a cab again and even mkre so in this colour scheme! But i have to admit... me and the fiance are currently trying to get a house together and although we can afford to do the abkve etc i have looked a focuc estates 1.8tddi as i know they are pretty rock solid for reliability and come in handy with the size and should she fall preg.... theres plenty room for everything. We average around 250-300 a month in fuel costs alone... so in two minds at the minute, i know its a project thread but... what would you guys suggest?... worth doing if so.. where to start? Lol

At the end of the day mate... how much would selling it even contribute to a house? Not a lot is the answer. Itll be hard to find another so i would just keep it!

tdci/tddi different engines i think sam Wink
Get the pill and grind it up and put in her morning coffee, then you don't have to worry about babies and can keep the cab. Sorted.

Its not how much it would contribute but more a case of how much it needs to sort it out and then the 250-300 quid running costs a month.

The tddi dates back to the old escort diesel engine. Reliable units to be honest, the cab hasn't let me down in fairness.
I don't really know how to put it but... starting a family or the cab ?... the cab isn't the most practical car too.. plus im the only driver out of us and need something i cam put stuff in that i cant get in the cab i.e fridge n other stuff like that.

I like but... time to grow up maybe?
