calipers or drums on the rear?
could be cables, mech in drums or knackered caliper

if its got discs on the rear, watch the handbrake cable on the side that don't work, does the cable move and cause the caliper "lever" to move??
while your there, check for pad friction material, is there any left?? the pads on mine where very stuck/stiff in the arc on the pads holder, the slide pins where very stiff, so the caliper didn't slide from side to side, and the caliper pistons where stiff, they didn't retract very freely..............but they did "turn".............since they where cleaned. freed off etc the handbrake has been better, but should be much better when the system is re assembled after repairing the tin "shields " and slide wedges lubed etc. etc...........they will have to hold the car on the steep hill outside the house! |
