my mate has got a t5 but it is restricted to 70mph no matter what gear your in...anyone know how to remove it or know what is restricting it ?

not sure mate...as soon as it hits 70 the power just litrally drops off.wondering if the pump is governed.maybe be a remap then might do it.

Thats a vw mapped restrictor by the sounds of it, to get rid you need to take it to a vw garage to have it removed if i remember correctly a t5's done on the ecu so its not a seperate unit or a fuse you can pull.

why would you want to exceed 70? it's illegal

Exceeding 60 in a van so you shouldn't be going 70 anyway :p

Ha yeah don't have anything helpful to add my dads t5 sportline definitely doesn't have any restrictions!

It'll be in with vagcom, I think under powertrain control its channel 42 or 43 or something around there, I think that's the speed in kmh in hex... So it'd be a value of 0x071 for a 113kmh limiter... I think that's how it works anyway
