DW8 into 205 Driveshafts/gbox problems?
#1
I've read that to fit the standard 306 gbox into a 205 you either swap the diff to the 205 unit or split the shaft and install the 205 bit to the whole assembly and it will fit.. does this setup work with the DW8 gearbox as well? if not, any ideas?

I dont know if there are different gearboxes on these engines.. today i'll try to get a couple of pics since it's out of the car..

Thanks!!

not likely to need to do that on the DW8 box as it wont have the bigger planet gears that the gti6 and tubo boxes have.
need a part number? http://public.servicebox.peugeot.com/ and http://service.citroen.com/ will sort you out.

i just got round to measuring the shafts.. the ones which were with the DW8 box are longer than a set of standard perv 205 axles i had lying about..
I don't know if it means that the location of the gearbox is different or if maybe perv and derv axles are different..
another trhing.. inner DW8 shaft and outer 205 shaft do not feel happy together ie. there is a bit of play between them.. again this may be attributed to them being petrol outer shafts.. i tried changing over those 3 ball typethingies at the end of the inner shaft but the 205 ones had a cir-clip and the DW8 ones were literally tack-welded in place Sad

here are the photos of the gearbox.. if anyone sheds any light on the fitment issues..if any.. it has with 205s i'd be grateful..

Easy to tell - just put the short 205 shaft in and see if it slides home fully.

If it has the wrong diff, the shaft will bottom out and won't sit fully home.

If it is needed, I would (and indeed do) personally swap the diff instead of messing around bodging bits of different shafts together, but that's just me.
