So I keep hearing really good things about Focal speakers but they are hella expensive so are they really worth it, will I notice the difference over an equivalently expensive set of JBL's or similar?
I'm only looking at their co axials for the front doors and only gonna run them off the head unit but with some sound deadening.

For me it depends on the person who is listening/spending the money. If you can appreciate it, then absolutely, yes. I love mine and Focal in general.

What about budget focal? Mainly the 570ca1 or isc570 and the isc165.

Even the budget focal stuff is expensive though, like £120 rrp for a pair of front speakers whereas the equivalently speced JBLs are £55rrp.

Yes but you can't really compare Focal with JBL... They're not in the same league.

I agree, I've had Focal's in the past and they've been excellent.

Hmm all this talk of focals makes me want to go buy a pair
Do they really benefit from being amped, or will a half decent headunit power them ok?

Mine were ok on the HU but were in a whole different league on a decent amp. I would say if you have no intention of amping them, stick with cheaper stuff like JBL.

Imo they really need to be amped, I dont think they are sensitive enough to run without.

I bought focal last month after having fli comp6s. I amped them when I fitted them and the quality is amazing. They were about 120 on eBay.
Definitely amp then otherwise you won't get the most out of them.

So I am using a maystar qxt455. Its a 4 channel amp which i got with a wiring kit and a 1000w jbl sub in a box. Because its 4 channel I have 1 and 2 for front speakers and then channels 3 and 4 are bridged for the sub. It all cost me 25 on eBay.

Hmm highly considering these now. I have kenwoods in front and 6x9s on stealth parcel shelf. But I want more sound without needing a sub.

You want to get these focals and amp them then. Also you need to sound deaden the inside and outside of each door.

Will do. Been thinking of sound deadening the whole car anyway. Just need to 100% decide what I want with the car. Can't make my mind up weather to keep it or not.

Dude comparing them to Fli's is pointless. I have flis in my car and they are so bad im considering a brief return to standard speakers.

So... saying that FLI an after market brand is shit compared to Focal is a pointless comparison? Im saying one is a massive improvement over the other! Hardly pointless. I was happy basking in the knowledge I had aftermarket speakers until I realised how crap they were!
