ive just been looking for a sports cat for my 1.6 and spotted something in their ad.
say its compulsery for any car after january 2001 will have to be fitted with a catalytic converter.
mine is a 2000 so does this mean i can do away with it?

I would say yes you do kingy, your car will still have to be put through an emisions test, and without the cat theres 99% chance it wont pass it
better for you^^^

Theres no way they wont test your emisions. so you will have to be within a certain range and i dont think you will meet that with out,
Just screw boost & max fuel back in for MOT oh wait .............

Because kingy wants a bigger engine & my mrs would benifit from a smaller engine
+ kingy wants a winning ph2
i still think kingy should drop a 16V in it though

My local MOT garage fitted my decat pipe at the weekend.
I asked them about when it next goes in for a test and was told that because it's a diesel they don't usually look for one - they would certainly pass it.
Mine is a 2001 too.
Disclaimer: The above is not to be taken to heart and is probably a joke, grow up you big girl.

Yeah, diesels dont need one as they don't have an emmisions test, as long as your exhaust isn't leaking and you're not blowing plumes of coal at fast idle you'll be fine.
On a petrol though, wouldn't even try getting away without a cat!
