do i need a cat? - kingy - 10-01-2013 ive just been looking for a sports cat for my 1.6 and spotted something in their ad. say its compulsery for any car after january 2001 will have to be fitted with a catalytic converter. mine is a 2000 so does this mean i can do away with it? RE: do i need a cat? - Grant - 10-01-2013 Why bother if you're getting a '6? RE: do i need a cat? - puglove - 10-01-2013 Nah you dont need a cat.......................................... but you will need a dog RE: do i need a cat? - kingy - 10-01-2013 grant.... never said for deffo im getting a 6. dont know what im doing at the minute. i keep thinking of getting rid but everytime i drive my car i think that i never want to get rid. so, just looking at other possibilitys. jamie..... funny fuucker lol. 2 replys and i still dont know.. tish. RE: do i need a cat? - puglove - 10-01-2013 I would say yes you do kingy, your car will still have to be put through an emisions test, and without the cat theres 99% chance it wont pass it better for you^^^ RE: do i need a cat? - kingy - 10-01-2013 haha, yeah. much better. know i know. RE: do i need a cat? - puglove - 10-01-2013 Theres no way they wont test your emisions. so you will have to be within a certain range and i dont think you will meet that with out, Just screw boost & max fuel back in for MOT oh wait ............. RE: do i need a cat? - kingy - 10-01-2013 yeah yeah yeah, hey, is your mrs thinking of getting rid of her motor? RE: do i need a cat? - puglove - 10-01-2013 No not , its a case of if you wanted to p/x she'd seriously consider it. She wouldnt just straight up sell then look for somthing eles, because she wouldnt another that was as well looked after and as honest as that one RE: do i need a cat? - kingy - 10-01-2013 mmmmm, we might need to talk. RE: do i need a cat? - puglove - 10-01-2013 I cant garentee she will let her go though she is rather attached lol, but yeah if you wonna send me a Pm, with spec history ( basicaly a for sale AD) i can do one for the xsi, then when she gets home it will give her a better idea of what she's looking at RE: do i need a cat? - kingy - 10-01-2013 yeah, will send it. im quite attatched to mine as well so this might be a bit difficult to sort lol. RE: do i need a cat? - Toms306 - 10-01-2013 If you're both attached why are you thinking of swapping?? Because kingy wants a bigger engine & my mrs would benifit from a smaller engine + kingy wants a winning ph2 i still think kingy should drop a 16V in it though RE: do i need a cat? - kingy - 10-01-2013 still tempted. i dont know what i want to do. Furry muff. MTFU AND BUY A 6! RE: do i need a cat? - kingy - 10-01-2013 dont confuse me anymore. RE: do i need a cat? - C.A.R. - 10-01-2013 My local MOT garage fitted my decat pipe at the weekend. I asked them about when it next goes in for a test and was told that because it's a diesel they don't usually look for one - they would certainly pass it. Mine is a 2001 too. Should buy a DT RE: do i need a cat? - kingy - 10-01-2013 yeah but mine is petrol. iirc you dont need one at all on a derv RE: do i need a cat? - Toms306 - 10-01-2013 Yeah, diesels dont need one as they don't have an emmisions test, as long as your exhaust isn't leaking and you're not blowing plumes of coal at fast idle you'll be fine. On a petrol though, wouldn't even try getting away without a cat! RE: do i need a cat? - kingy - 10-01-2013 the cat stays then RE: do i need a cat? - cully - 10-01-2013 petrols yes after 1992 if the car was produced with a cat it will be looked for without it will be a fail RE: do i need a cat? - Matt - 10-01-2013 (10-01-2013, 07:43 AM)puglove Wrote: Nah you dont need a cat.......................................... but you will need a dog Do you like dags? |
