Well you can either do it the bodge way which i think is put the current map pre charge.
the second way is to get a 3bar map and put it post charge and have it mapped in properly but that obviously needs aftermarket management. But then again if your turboing, youd be stupid not to go aftermarket management

Well if its knocking get another engine ready, bolt a turbo on to the knocker and hope you sort out any issues before you kill it lol

Yeah but if we're on about cheap turbo power you should be able to get 200bhp including the engine swap for £500 with the 406 lump. As for the B204, it'd be a big job but 500bhp is possible with pretty much standard internals...

I though the B204 was the 2.0 HPT from the old 9000 Turbo 16?

ah possible. I dont know a huge amount about the engines in the old 9000s tbh. i know people used to get b235r's over 500bhp on stock internals and it was very easy to do!

just thinking through this logically, surely you can't bodge the map sensor in pre turbo like you can with the supercharger conversions due to the difference on how they supply the air to the engine. Ie if you map it To provide fuel as if you were flooring it from 1000rpm to 7000rpm in gear, the fuelling curve would be completely different to if you clutch kicked it at 1000rpm. You'd then run lean cause the map sensor isnt measuring what air is actually making it onto the cylinders...

My mate has a 9000 he bought for £350, spent £600 on it and it dynos at 390bhp, pretty sure thats a B204

Nah, it's purely down to the fact it's not consistent with engine RPMs - the ECU needs to know when the airflow rate into the engine increases (i.e. turbo spins up...) so it can adjust the IQ and timing.
Not only that, you shouldn't put a turbo between the throttle plate, you'll wreck the thrust bearing.
Think about how the ECU is knowing the quantity of air going into the engine - the IAW 1AP doesn't understand boost without significant modification, it's only the SC setups that can do the pikey map before the charger, between the throttle plate...
