So my neighbour has a 106, the rocker gasket had gone, so I replaced that for her.
But she has a starting problem she wants me to fix, basically she was driving home something went bang and and then the car stopped.
When you get in the car, turn the key, all that is heard is a very loud click from engine bay
My first thoughts was something internal, belts gone?
Starter motor failed?
I have no idea where to start

pop the top timing belt cover off. 2 10 mmm bolts. takes around 30 seconds. will check the belts ok right quick if its just clicking could be the starter. get someone to held the key in the start position and give it a tap. may go

Where about are the starters located on these? The loud clicking sound like it's coming from the rear of the engine bay

yeah thats where the starter motor is on them. theyre not to bad to do to be fair. you can reach them and give them a tap with extension bar if you try hard enough. youll need a set of axle stands or some ramps to change it with ease though. not impossible without but advised.

daughters 206 Tu engined went bang that removed five teeth from the cam belt and mashed many valves
removing the top cover didn't reveal much as the belt was still on the pulleys
but did still turn over with no compression what's so ever

Right well I'm taking another look at it tomorrow.
